Being a childless (child-free?) person, I have the benefit of observing many parents' reactions (via Facebook and Twitter) of their lives during summer and the school year.

It seems like parents are divided into two camps:

1.  So happy and relieved that it's "Back to School" time, like they've finally been sprung from some kind of sentence and have their days back.   Usually indicated by a post like "It's back to school time! :)"

2.  So sad to see their kids go, they start talking about how much they're going to miss them approximately one month before school starts, then say how they cried when the kids got on the bus.  Usually indicated by the opposite type of post, like "It's back to school time!  :("

This study is, of course, completely arbitrary, but it really does seem like parents fall into one of these two camps.   Same thing with teachers– some of them seem genuinely excited to start a new school year, and some seem like they live for that summer season.   Also, I must give credit to (college professor) Katie, who found this absolutely hilarious "Back to School Sale" image.  Who is this display for, exactly?   Who considers vodka "school supplies?"

Am I wrong about this?    Are you happy or sad about "back to school?"   Happy or sad enough to stock up on vodka?
