2013-05-25 16.15.59First of all, is now a good time to say that I love holidays
where people have the day off from work?
This gives me time to get caught up on everything, and just for a moment
I feel like I’m ahead of my to-do list.
Of course, this does mean I annoy everyone who actually took the day off
by filling up their inboxes with work, but I try to put that out of my mind
while I am jumping for joy at the lack of distraction and maniacally crossing things off the list.  Bwaaaahahahahahahahaha!

Apropos of nothing, I took this photo over the weekend at a Dunkin’ Donuts.  They are apparently still pursuing their side
product line of fish-based sandwiches and wraps, which surprises me because
a) the product photography, which I think is fine when it comes to highlighting
the chocolate and sprinkles on donuts, is just too detailed for fish products, and b) just, why is Dunkin’ Donuts making anything with fish?

I always find it rather strange when stores that are known
for one type of thing try to expand their brand equity in this way, like when
Starbucks tried to make smoothies.   You’re
never going to go to a Dunkin’ Donuts for a sandwich, so this would be a
sandwich of opportunity, if anything.
You wouldn’t think “impulse buy sandwiches” would really warrant enough
sales for them to keep chicken and tuna in stock, would you?  This leads me to my next concern (although
the chicken and tuna in these products is assuredly canned)—do they really sell
enough of those weird sandwiches for the sandwich you order to be fresh?   I doubt it.    Donuts you can leave sitting around all
day, and they just get stale.   Tuna and
chicken salad?  Not so much.

And with that, I will leave you to your poolside drinks and
vacations while I fill up your inboxes with emails you will have to answer
tomorrow.  Happy Memorial Day!
