I Make Myself Laugh Sometimes
As part of my "organize everything in 2013" project, I am going through photos, re-categorizing them, and re-naming them so they can actually be found.
Here is one I happened upon– what made me laugh about it was not only the complete haphazardness of the line-painting, or that I was steathy enough to capture this (Stephan was driving, don't worry), but that I actually named the photo one word: "Drunk," to remind myself that I believe someone was drunk at work when they were painting the divider line.
I might have mentioned this, but every time we get stuck in a traffic slowdown/ stop situation, we call it "cones and arrows," and do an improv scene about the meeting that preceded the stoppage. Usually it involves many thick New York accents, many of them going "Ooohhh, we're going to shut the Hutch down to one lane, and we're not even BUILDING anything….OOOHHHHH," and then the other guys have contests with them to see who can cause the worst traffic backup, and the guy who jams up the George Washington Bridge going in the New Jersey direction wins every single day because there are always construction guys standing there, but I've never seen anyone actually doing anything, if I'm honest.
And so on. We like to entertain ourselves with fictional scenarios. Did I mention that east coast drivers are the craziest drivers I've ever seen? There's that.
