I just realized I totally ignored today's writing prompt, which was: do you write into a notebook or on a computer?
The answer is: both, sometimes neither. Depends on when the ideas hit me. I once hand-wrote an entire novel into a black and white composition notebook because I couldn't get any momentum when I tried to do it on the computer. Sometimes I write into my phone when I'm in the grocery store. I kind of have to force myself to write into the computer now, because I like writing, and I also like "having written," and when I write things into notebooks, I then have to transcribe those pages, and this bums me out because even when I'm done with a page, I know I still have a page of typing to do, and that Dragon Naturally Speaking software turns my words into something I have to edit too much, so now I try to write only into the computer, and I have an external hard drive where I back everything up on a frequent basis. Mostly I think this is just about making a new habit, which we all know is hard and takes about 30 days, so I'm hoping this blog marathon will help me transition to writing everything on the computer. Speaking of computers, writing on a computer could benefit those writers and authors that have ebook publishing plans with a company like LuLu by having the work ready to edit and publish as soon as they're done writing.
