OK, I'm too superstitious to actually come out and say it, but let's just say I think I just finished a book, and I have another book that is just about to come out, and I've been slowly but surely rebuilding client websites after "The Russian Hack" and that seems to be going well, so generally speaking, I do believe I have just gotten severalHUGE things off my plate, and that feels good. For now. Trying not to jinx! Don't scare it away!
In unrelated news, I keep noticing this every time I log in to Amazon, and now it’s become funny enough to actually warrant a blog post. Can someone please tell me what is going on with Amazon’s recommendation algorithm?
Today I logged in, and this is what they suggested I buy:
Holy crap! That thing is terrifying! Why does Amazon think I need this?
I know, I know, Amazon is a “global marketplace,” not just a bookseller, but I usually just use it to buy the downloadable version of whatever book or music I’m interested in. This has NEVER included downloading “V is for Vendetta,” the movie itself OR the music. Also, I have NEVER bought a Halloween costume from Amazon, I’m not a serial killer or a bank robber (at least not that Amazon knows), and I’m not even a mystery/ thriller fan, so I’m wondering— what, exactly, are they using as the basis for this recommendation? I think this might be a glitch caused by the “Connect with Friends” beta, which would cause them to recommend things that my social media connections had recently bought.
I guess what I’m saying is—which one of you bought the “V is for Vendetta” mask?
Please tell me it’s for a Halloween party.
Oh, also– HAPPY BIRTHDAY RACHEL! I know, your birthday was two days ago, but isn't this a good way to keep the party going? Can I interest you in a super-creepy "V is for Vendetta" mask??
